Job Title: Senior Workers’ Compensation Attorney

Job Overview:
A distinguished law firm is seeking a highly experienced Senior Workers’ Compensation Attorney to join its Kansas City office. This role is designed for a legal professional with 25 years of practice in handling workers’ compensation matters. The ideal candidate will bring exceptional legal acumen, strategic case management abilities, and a proven track record in both litigation and client counseling. The position includes the opportunity to mentor junior attorneys and shape the direction of the firm’s workers’ compensation practice.

Location:

  • Kansas City, MO

Duties:

  • Handle all phases of workers’ compensation litigation, including claims, hearings, appeals, and settlements
  • Represent employers, insurers, or claimants before administrative agencies and in court
  • Develop litigation strategy, assess risk, and provide legal opinions on complex matters
  • Draft and file pleadings, motions, discovery documents, and legal memoranda
  • Attend depositions, mediations, hearings, and trials as required
  • Maintain client communication and provide legal updates and guidance
  • Collaborate with medical and vocational experts
  • Mentor and guide junior attorneys and legal staff

Requirements:

  • 25 years of experience in workers’ compensation law
  • Demonstrated success in handling high-volume or complex cases
  • Ability to manage cases independently from intake to resolution
  • Strong understanding of local and state workers’ compensation regulations and case law

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in the State of Missouri (in good standing)
  • Kansas licensure is a plus.
