Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking a highly qualified Associate to join its Privacy & Cyber (Transactional) practice group. This role offers the opportunity to represent leading clients across various industries in high-profile and cutting-edge data privacy and security matters. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, and corporate transactional work with a focus on data privacy and security. This position will allow the candidate to handle complex privacy and security issues in a dynamic environment, including M&A transactions, IPOs, and commercial agreements.

Location:

  • Washington, D.C.

Duties:

  • Provide counsel on compliance with privacy laws and regulations
  • Negotiate privacy and security components of commercial services agreements
  • Handle all privacy and security aspects of corporate transactions, including M&A deals and IPOs
  • Draft and negotiate privacy-related provisions in corporate agreements
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Proactively lead matters forward with minimal supervision
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide comprehensive privacy and security advice

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in privacy law
  • Experience with commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, and corporate transactions related to data privacy and security
  • Proven experience in handling privacy and security aspects of M&A deals, IPOs, and other corporate transactions
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Aptitude for technology and understanding of online technologies is preferred
  • CIPP certification is a plus

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • CIPP certification (preferred)

Skills:

  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and communication skills
  • In-depth knowledge of privacy laws and regulatory compliance
  • Ability to manage complex legal matters and collaborate with other legal professionals
  • Expertise in corporate transactional work related to data privacy and security
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to lead matters proactively
